The guy in the video (Brad) sounds like EJ. When I played the Blue, I didn't. Whats up with that?
The Gain Stage Blue is simply a tool just as a guitar or an amplifier. No gear will "make" you sound like anyone else. To sound like EJ or Clapton or Robben Ford you have to analyze their playing and then practice your butt off. There is no shortcut. Period.
I have good chops. How should I set my gear for a violin tone with the Blue?
First, you must roll the tone control back on the bridge pickup (especially a strat!) somewhere in the 5-7 range.
If you have a bright amp (like a Deluxe Reverb reissue!) you MUST set the Treble control no higher than 2 or 3!
Seriously! The master of the violin tone usually has the treble on his Marshalls set no higher than 2! And these are not terribly bright amps to start with!
What Gain Stage pedal has the highest gain?
The GS3 has the most gain because you can cascade the channels. The Blue has a lot of gain on tap at higher settings but it is a unique combination of drive and fuzz-type quality gain.
The other Gain Stages are better described as overdrives. From lowest to highest gain capabilities they are: Red, Purple and Green.
I have a Fender tube combo amp and would like to get a Plexi tone for lead. What pedal works best for that?
The Gain Stage Purple was designed specifically for that. It will provide a very authentic and convincing 1959 Super Lead tone and gain structure into Fender tube combo amps. It will work well with other amps as well.
I don't need lots of gain but I want a pedal with a lot of harmonic content and is very touch sensitive - which one?
The Gain Stage Red is the perfect choice. It is very easy to dial in to almost any rig and sound great.
I need a pedal that can sound huge and can get aggressive and slam you in the low end. It's got to stay tight with Drop D tuning.
Three words: Gain Stage Green.
Are Jetter Gear pedals True Bypass?
Yes. It's True Bypass and contains no buffering circuitry.
